Nikka Whisky from the Barrel is produced on Hokkaido, the northern island of Japan, by the Yoichi Distillery.

Masataka Taketsuru, the founder of NIKKA Whisky, sought out the best conditions for his first distillery. The YOICHI distillery was founded in 1934 in the small coastal town of the same name. This place is known for its Kaltern climate with adequate humidity, fresh, clean air and fresh water. The distillation process is still carried out in the distillery today using traditional old methods. The stills are heated by direct coal fire, which brings out the roasted flavours intensely.

Two Nikka single malts, the Miyagikyo and Yoichi, and a single grain whisky are married for this whisky. The whisky is matured in both bourbon and sherry casks.
