The Octomore EDITION: 16.1 Super Heavily Peated Islay Single Malt 59.3% Vol. 0.7 l in tin box is an exceptional bottling from Bruichladdich, which once again impressively underlines why Octomore is regarded worldwide as the benchmark for extremely heavily peated whiskies. With a phenol content of 101.4 ppm, this edition is one of the "milder" Octomore expressions, but remains extremely intense compared to other Islay malts.


Octomore 16.1 was distilled from the Concerto barley variety, which is grown in the Scottish Highlands. After distillation, it matured for five years exclusively in first-fill ex-bourbon casks, which gives it a clear, precise structure and a powerful interplay of flavours. It is bottled in its natural colour, non-chill-filtered and at a strong cask strength of 59.3% vol. which further emphasises its unadulterated character.


The presentation in the elegant tin box emphasises the collector's value of this limited bottling, which once again proves how masterfully Bruichladdich has mastered the interplay between peat intensity, cask maturation and youthful freshness.
