The NC'NEAN ORGANIC Huntress Orchard Cobbler Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the third release in the experimental Huntress series from the Scottish Nc'nean Distillery. What makes it special lies in the distillation process itself: the spirit used is produced only once a year, specifically during the period when the distillery switches from one distillation recipe to another. For Orchard Cobbler, the spirit comes from the week immediately following this changeover. During this time, the cut points are adjusted, resulting in an unusually high concentration of fruity compounds entering the distillate. It is precisely this pronounced fruity character that inspired the name of this limited edition, which alludes to a popular dessert. The Huntress series, in turn, is inspired by Neachneohain, an ancient Gaelic goddess and huntress, as well as a protector of nature.


For its maturation, Huntress Orchard Cobbler relies on a precise cask composition comprising 66 per cent STR red wine casks, 31 per cent ex-bourbon casks and 3 per cent ex-sherry casks. This unpeated single malt Scotch whisky is bottled at a robust 48.5 per cent and is limited to just 6,153 bottles. The whisky is certified organic, vegan and gluten-free; it is also non-chill-filtered and bottled without any added colouring. This Nc’nean Limited Edition thus combines an unusual distillation date with a diverse selection of casks and a consistently natural bottling. The 0.7 l bottle, complete with a gift box, is aimed in particular at connoisseurs of experimental, limited-edition and fruit-forward organic single malt Scotch whiskies.
