In 1263, the head of the Mackenzie clan saved King Alexander III from an attacking stag. In recognition of this, the king granted the Mackenzie clan the right to use the emblem of the twelve-pointed royal stag in their coat of arms. With the takeover of the Dalmore distillery by the clan's descendants in 1867, this royal stag became the symbol of Dalmore, which proudly adorns every bottle today. The precious single malts are refined in exceptional casks hand-picked by Master Distiller Richard Paterson.

The Dalmore distillery was founded in 1839 and is located on the Cromarty Firth coast in the northern Highlands. Dalmore uses water from the River Alness, which flows through the small town of the same name.

This Dalmore whisky matures for 10 years in ex-bourbon casks. This whisky is then finished for up to 3 years in Oloroso and PX casks.
