Riga Black Balsam BLACK is a traditional herbal liqueur with a deep-rooted history and unmistakable character. The original recipe was developed in the mid-18th century by the pharmacist Abraham Kunze in Riga - originally intended as a remedy, it quickly became a popular stimulant. In 1781, the balsam was even officially authorised by the Russian Kaiser Catherine II, which increased its popularity far beyond the borders of Latvia. Today, Riga Black Balsam is a symbol of Latvian drinking culture and is appreciated around the world for its exceptional herbal bitters flavour.

The Black Edition combines the classic herbal profile with a fruity-sweet note and impresses with a harmonious combination of 24 natural ingredients - including lime blossom, birch buds, valerian root, Ingwerer, nutmeg, berries and black pepper. The maturation process in oak barrels gives the balsam its bittersweet depth and characteristic dark colour. With an alcohol content of 35% by volume, it develops a pleasant warmth and intense flavour, making it an experience both on its own and in modern mixed drinks.
