In 1817, John and Thomas McClelland were first granted a licence to distil whisky on their Baldnoch farm in the Scottish Lowlands. For almost a century, successive generations of the McClelland family modernised the distillery.

In 2015, Australian entrepreneur David Prior acquired the company and began renovating the distillery. After 2 years of work under the direction of Master Distiller Ian MacMillan, whisky production was restarted. In 2017, Bladnoch celebrated its 203rd anniversary, making it one of the oldest and largest privately owned Scotch whisky distilleries.

Bladnoch's Classic Collection is being expanded with the fourth edition, "Liora". "Liora" means "the gift of light" in Hebrew.

The whisky is matured in ex-bourbon casks and fresh virgin oak casks.

It is bottled at cask strength, without chill filtration and with a natural colour.
