The recipe is based on a high proportion of rye, which gives the whiskey its typical, spicy flavour. It is matured for at least 3 years in burnt American white oak barrels, which gives it additional vanilla and wood flavours. With an increased alcohol content of 43% vol. in this 1-litre bottling, Old Overholt offers more strength and expression than the classic 40% version, while remaining pleasantly accessible and balanced.
