Maen The Perfect Circle Whisky is a modern Japanese blended whisky that combines malt and grain whiskies to create a well-balanced blend. It is bottled by Shiki Shuzo Corporation, a Japanese producer with a portfolio of various premium spirits. The individual whisky components are distilled two or three times in copper stills and then matured for three to five years in American ex-bourbon white oak casks. The combination of different malt and grain distillates, along with varying maturation periods, creates the characteristic blend of The Perfect Circle. Bottled at 43 per cent, Maen combines traditional elements of whisky-making with a deliberately modern Japanese brand identity.


A distinctive feature of Maen The Perfect Circle whisky is the minimalist 0.7-litre bottle, which comes with a gift box. The label was designed by the Japanese calligraphy artist Juju Kurihara and features a circle inspired by the Ensō symbol from Zen Buddhism. This symbol is closely linked to the idea of the ‘Perfect Circle’ and gives the bottle a high degree of recognisability. In terms of the whisky itself, the focus is on maturation in ex-bourbon casks, the blend of malt and grain whisky, and multiple distillation. Maen is therefore aimed in particular at connoisseurs of modern Japanese whiskies who, in addition to the production process, also value a distinctive bottle design and high-quality presentation.
