In the picturesque landscape of Riegersburg in Styria, Alois Gölles is the third generation to run the traditional family fruit-growing business. After graduating from the renowned Federal College for Wine and Fruit Growing in Klosterneuburg, he dedicated himself to refining his parents' harvest of apples, pears, plums and peaches. He began distilling fine brandies in 1979, followed by the founding of his high-quality vinegar factory in 1984. Today, the range includes around twenty fine brandies and just as many types of vinegar, which are regularly recognised.

The "Ron Johan Rum" is characterised by its unique origin: It is distilled in Styria, with the molasses required for production sourced from Brazil, Paraguay and the Dominican Republic. Another striking feature of this rum is the label on the bottle, which depicts the pirate Black Beard and the Austrian Erzherzog Johann. The rum is also dedicated to the latter, which gives it a special cultural and historical dimension.

Ron Johan Vanilla is the result of the careful combination of organic bourbon vanilla from Madagascar with high-quality dark rum distilled from Caribbean sugar cane molasses. To produce this spiced rum, vanilla pods are infused directly in rum, resulting in a reduction that focuses exclusively on the pure flavour of the vanilla. This method makes it possible to extract the full flavour of the vanilla and incorporate it into the rum.

Unlike many other vanilla rums that rely on vanillin or synthetic flavourings, Ron Johan Vanilla uses only real organic vanilla. This approach underlines the commitment to authenticity and delivers an impressively flavoured spiced rum.
