Plantation Rum PANAMA 14 Years Old Rye Whiskey Maturation Edition 2021 is a limited-edition single-cask rum from Panama, with an alcohol content of a robust 51.8 per cent, presented in a 0.7-litre bottle complete with a gift box. The rum was distilled in 2007 by Alcoholes Del Istmo in Panama from molasses. Its total maturation period of 14 years spans three different types of cask and two climate zones. Initially, the rum matured for eleven years under tropical conditions in Panama in an ex-bourbon cask made from American white oak. It was then transported to France, where it underwent a further two years’ maturation in a cognac cask under continental climatic conditions.


For the Maturation Edition 2021, the Plantation Panama 14 Years Old then underwent an exceptional one-year finish in a rye whisky cask from the New York Distilling Company in the USA. It is precisely this rare combination of ex-bourbon cask, cognac cask and rye whisky cask that forms the key distinguishing feature of this bottling. Rye whisky casks are used relatively rarely for the finishing of Central American rums and add an extra spicy and grainy dimension to the matured Panama Rum. With a total age of 14 years, three-stage cask maturation and a robust 51.8% ABV, this Plantation Single Cask Rum is particularly aimed at connoisseurs of limited-edition bottlings and exceptional cask finishes.
