The Ron Matusalem brand has its origins in Santiago de Cuba, where it was founded in 1872 by the brothers Benjamin and Eduardo Camp together with their partner Evaristo Álvarez. The name "Matusalem" comes from the biblical figure Methuselah, who is said to have lived to be 969 years old, and symbolises the long maturing process and the quality of the rum. Over the years, Ron Matusalem has faced various challenges, including changes in ownership and production locations due to political and economic factors. After the Cuban Revolution in 1959, the brand changed hands and production was moved to the Dominican Republic, where it continues to thrive.

The Insolito matures for 3 years in ex-Tempranillo solera barrels and is then blended with the legendary 15 Solera Gran Reserva from our own estate. The pink colour results from the activated charcoal filtration used.

The Insalito is still only released in limited editions.
