It is produced from sugar cane and then blended into a well-balanced mix, the components of which are aged for seven years in ex-Scotch whisky oak casks. The ageing process lends it a pleasant combination of fruit, sweetness, toasted notes and spicy wood. The rum is produced by a company that has been synonymous with Costa Rican spirits since 1985 and positions the Centenario 7 Añejo Especial as an accessible yet distinctive interpretation of a matured rum from Central America.


At 40% ABV, the Ron Centenario 7 Añejo Especial is smooth, harmonious and pleasantly balanced. Honey, ripe apples and subtle oak characterise the aroma, whilst on the palate sweet cherries, vanilla and a hint of charred wood add further depth. The long finish emphasises the mature and rounded character of this bottling. The name ‘7 Provincias’ reflects the connection with Costa Rica and highlights the rum’s origin, as does the nickname ‘The Spirit of Costa Rica’.
