Nikka From the Barrel Double Matured Blended Whisky is a full-bodied Japanese blended whisky and one of Nikka Whisky’s best-known bottlings. It is produced by blending carefully selected malt and grain whiskies, with distillates from Nikka Whisky’s Miyagikyo and Yoichi distilleries playing a key role. A distinctive feature is the additional maturation phase following blending: once the individual whiskies have been combined, the finished blend is left to rest once more so that its various components can blend harmoniously. This process, known as ‘double maturation’, contributes significantly to the bottling’s exceptionally rich and balanced structure.

With a robust 51.4% alcohol content, Nikka From the Barrel is bottled at a significantly higher strength than many classic blended whiskies. The high ABV ensures concentration and structure, whilst the compact, almost square 0.5-litre bottle has long since become a distinctive hallmark of this bottling. Nikka was founded by the Japanese whisky pioneer Masataka Taketsuru, whose experience of Scottish whisky production had a significant influence on the company’s development.
