The Laphroaig 10 Years Old 40% vol. 0.7 l is a characterful Islay single malt Scotch whisky, renowned for its intense peaty smoke and its unmistakable maritime character. It is produced by the historic Laphroaig Distillery on the south coast of the Scottish Hebridean island of Islay, whose history dates back to 1815. As the centrepiece of the regular range, the Laphroaig 10 Years Old has embodied the distillery’s classic style for generations. It is produced using heavily peated barley malt, some of which is processed on the distillery’s own malting floors and dried over peat fires. The whisky is then matured for ten years in ex-bourbon casks made of American oak, the charred wood of which shapes its development during cask ageing. Bottled at 40% ABV in a 0.7-litre bottle, it is one of the best-known examples of smoky Scottish single malts.
