In May 2007, the distillery was partially destroyed by a devastating fire, although many valuable rums were saved. As the available storage facilities were too small to accommodate all the rescued rum casks, temporary storage locations were used.

Some of these casks were forgotten and were only rediscovered many years later – hence the name ‘The Forgotten Casks’. This long and unforeseen ageing process has given the Chairman’s Reserve Rum unique and complex flavours, making it a truly special spirit. The discovery of these forgotten casks led to a limited special edition, which is popular with rum connoisseurs and enthusiasts alike.
