Description
Takamaka EXTRA NOIR Rum 43% ABV 0.7 l is a characterful dark rum from the Seychelles that combines traditional rum-making with innovative ageing techniques. It is produced by the Trois Frères Distillery on the island of Mahé, which was founded in 2002 by brothers Richard and Bernard d’Offay. The base is a carefully balanced blend of molasses rums, distilled in both traditional pot stills and column stills. This is followed by a special ageing process using French oak and ex-bourbon casks. The process is rounded off with a 60-day resting period in ex-French rum casks, which allows the different distillates time to blend harmoniously.
Takamaka Extra Noir is part of the distillery’s St. André Series and is characterised by its exceptional production process. The deliberate contact with different types of oak and the final cask ageing result in a distinctive blended rum with an intense oaky character. For this bottling, the distillery has omitted added sugar and chill filtration in order to preserve the original character of the rum blend. At 43% ABV, this rum from the Seychelles is bottled in a 0.7-litre bottle. The combination of pot-still and column-still rum, French oak and the influence of bourbon casks makes Takamaka Extra Noir a unique speciality of modern rum production in the Indian Ocean.
