Código 1530 Tequila is a premium brand based in Amatitán, a town in the Jalisco region of Mexico. This brand is renowned for its high-quality, artisanal production methods and its commitment to producing exceptional tequila. The name ‘Código 1530’ refers to an ancient codex that sets out the specific methods of tequila production in the Los Bajos region of Jalisco, ensuring the quality and integrity of the production process.

Código 1530 Barrel Strength Tequila is produced to the same quality standards and with the same care as the brand’s other variants. It is made from 100 per cent blue Weber agave, which is carefully selected and harvested at the optimum stage of ripeness. The agave hearts, known as piñas, are cooked in traditional stone ovens to extract sugars and flavours. After cooking, the agave is ground and the juice is fermented using a yeast strain specially developed by Código, which converts the sugar into alcohol and produces an aromatic liquid. This is followed by double distillation in small copper stills to refine the flavours.

A distinctive feature of Código 1530 Barrel Strength is its ageing in French white oak casks for over two years, which lends the tequila exceptional depth, complexity and richness.
