The Barceló Imperial Rare Blends Porto Cask is a special release from Ron Barceló’s Rare Blends Collection, which combines the Dominican character of the Imperial range with a carefully selected port cask finish. It is based on a distillate made from the juice of Dominican sugar cane, which Barceló sources from its own sugar cane fields. The Barceló Imperial rums selected for the blend are first aged in ex-bourbon casks made from American white oak. Following careful blending, an additional maturation phase takes place, which sets the Porto Cask distinctly apart from the classic Imperial bottling. This multi-stage maturation process combines the sugarcane base typical of Barceló with the influences of different cask types.


For the final cask finishing, the Barceló Imperial Porto Cask is transferred to selected casks that previously contained 10-year-old Tawny Port. It is precisely this finish that lends additional depth and blends the matured base with pronounced notes of dark fruit, sweetness and wood. With an alcohol content of 40 per cent and a bottle size of 0.7 litres, this bottling is aimed at connoisseurs of expressive, cask-influenced spirits from the Dominican Republic.
