The blend consists of 80 per cent Espadín Maguey (Agave angustifolia) and 20 per cent Barril Maguey (Agave karwinskii). It is precisely this combination that gives the mezcal its distinctive balance of fruit, floral notes, minerality and smoke. The ripe agave hearts are cooked in the traditional manner in earthen pits with hot stones, which develops the characteristic yet harmoniously integrated smoky note. This is followed by fermentation and artisanal distillation under the guidance of local mezcaleros in Oaxaca, the historic centre of Mexican mezcal culture.

With an alcohol content of 40 per cent, the Bruxo X Espadín Barril Mezcal is approachable without losing the distinctive character of the two maguey varieties.
