The Poli Segretario di Stato Pure Malt Whisky 43% is an exceptional Italian pure malt whisky from Veneto, combining traditional craftsmanship with a cask-maturation process that is particularly characteristic of the region. It is produced by Poli Distillerie in Schiavon, in the heart of the Veneto, where distillation is carried out using the traditional water-bath method. The base is a pleasantly peaty pure malt, which is first matured for five years and then given additional depth through a finish in Amarone casks. The casks, previously used to age the famous Venetian red wine, impart dark fruit, spice and toasted aromas to the whisky, blending its malty character with an unmistakable connection to its home region.

The project was conceived to mark a special occasion for Schiavon: on 15 October 2013, a dignitary from the town was appointed Secretary of State of the Holy See. Poli seized upon this occasion and, with the ‘Segretario di Stato’ whisky, developed a bottling that combines an international whisky style with a Venetian identity. The Amarone Cask Finish complements the five-year-old malt with notes of roasted nuts, raisins, plums, chocolate and smoky spices. With an alcohol content of 43 per cent, a 0.7-litre bottle and a high-quality tin box, this pure malt whisky from Italy presents itself as a distinctive speciality for connoisseurs of unusual cask finishes.
