The Cihuatán 15 Alux Aged Rum Limited Edition 43.2% is a limited-edition release from El Salvador that combines the Cihuatán Distillery’s tropically matured style with a special connection to Mayan mythology. The name ‘Alux’ refers to a spirit from traditional Mayan culture and forms the thematic framework for this edition. The blend uses molasses-based rum components, distilled using both pot stills and column stills. The Limited Edition was crafted in 2022 by blender Gabriela Ayala and combines distillates aged for up to 15 years. Ageing takes place in the tropical climate of El Salvador in ex-bourbon casks made from American white oak, allowing the notes of fruit, vanilla, caramel and oaky spice to blend together with particular intensity.

At 43.2% ABV, the Cihuatán Alux 15 Rum is full-bodied yet well-balanced, with the long tropical cask maturation providing additional depth and a clearly discernible woody character. Ripe banana, dried apricot and vanilla meet caramel, cinnamon and nutmeg, whilst subtle oak notes lend structure to the profile. It is precisely the combination of rum from El Salvador, ex-bourbon cask components aged for up to 15 years, and the limited-edition blend that makes this 0.7-litre bottle a distinctive addition to the Cihuatán premium range. The version with a gift box further emphasises its special character, making the Cihuatán Limited Edition Rum an attractive gift for connoisseurs of mature, fruity and spicy rums.
