The Tomatin 15 Years Old Portuguese Collection Madeira Casks 2006 is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky and, together with the Port and Moscatel editions, forms the three-part Tomatin Portuguese Collection. The whisky was distilled on 8 September 2006 and initially matured for more than eight years in traditional Scotch whisky oak casks. On 23 April 2015, part of this whisky was transferred to selected Madeira wine casks, where it matured for a further seven years. This means it is not a whisky that has been matured entirely in Madeira casks for 15 years, but rather one that has undergone an exceptionally long secondary maturation in Madeira casks, through which the classic Highland character of Tomatin is deliberately enhanced by the influences of Portuguese fortified wine.


After a total of 15 years’ maturation, the Tomatin Portuguese Collection Madeira Casks was bottled on 9 May 2022 at 46% in a 0.7-litre bottle, complete with a gift box. The concept behind the Portuguese Collection allows for a particularly interesting comparison of different types of Portuguese casks, as all three whiskies were distilled on the same day and initially underwent the same basic maturation before spending their seven-year maturation phase in Tawny Port, Moscatel de Setúbal or Madeira casks. The combination of the 2006 vintage, 15 years’ total age and seven years’ maturation in Madeira casks makes this edition a special bottling for connoisseurs of long-matured Highland single malts and collectors of the complete Portuguese Collection.
