Kilchoman MACHIR BAY Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky is considered the flagship of the independent farm distillery Kilchoman Distillery and embodies the distillery's classic house style in a particularly accessible form. Named after the famous Machir Bay beach on the west coast of Islay, this bottling epitomises a maritime, smoky Islay character that confidently holds its own alongside the island's big names. The whisky is predominantly composed of malts aged for around six years and combines freshness, smoke and cask balance to create a clear overall picture.


Maturation takes place mainly in ex-bourbon casks, supplemented by a smaller proportion of Oloroso sherry casks, which give the whisky additional depth and structure. Bottled at 46% vol., non-chill-filtered and without colouring, the texture and all flavour-giving oils and esters are fully retained. Kilchoman Machir Bay is thus deliberately kept authentic and demonstrates the distillery's philosophy of producing Islay whisky entirely on site, from barley growing to bottling. This bottling is suitable both as an introduction to the world of Kilchoman and as a reliable representative of a classic, smoky Islay single malt.
