Claude Chatelier Extra XO Extra Fine Cognac combines traditional French cognac production with an exceptionally long period of cask ageing. The eaux-de-vie used in this premium blend are distilled from the Ugni Blanc and Colombard grape varieties. Following distillation, a maturation period of at least 22 years begins, during which the interplay of different stages of cask ageing plays a key role. Initially, the eaux-de-vie are stored in new Limousin oak casks, which imparts pronounced woody, vanilla and spicy notes. The ageing process then continues in older Limousin oak casks, where the intense cask notes blend harmoniously with the fruity and floral characteristics of the distillate over many years.

The long ageing takes place in the so-called ‘Paradis’, the section of a traditional Cognac warehouse reserved for particularly long-aged eaux-de-vie. Thanks to its ageing period of at least 22 years, the Claude Chatelier Extra XO develops not only vanilla and spicy oak but also the ‘rancio’ nuances characteristic of long-aged cognacs. The Extra Fine Cognac is bottled at 40% alcohol by volume in a 0.7-litre bottle. In this version, it is also presented in a gift box, which emphasises its high-quality presentation. The Claude Chatelier Extra XO Extra Fine Cognac with gift packaging thus combines Ugni Blanc and Colombard, long ageing, and both new and older Limousin oak casks to create a classically aged cognac composition.
