Suntory The Yamazaki DISTILLER’S RESERVE Single Malt Japanese Whisky 43% vol. 0.7 l is an elegant Japanese single malt whisky that combines Japan’s time-honoured whisky-making traditions with an exceptional variety of casks. It is produced at the renowned Yamazaki Distillery near Kyoto, which was founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii and is regarded as Japan’s first malt whisky distillery. The Yamazaki Distiller’s Reserve brings together carefully selected malt whiskies from a variety of cask types, including American oak casks, Spanish sherry casks, wine casks and Japanese Mizunara oak. The rare Mizunara oak, in particular, plays a key role in defining the distillery’s distinctive style. First launched in 2014, this expression has no specific age statement and is available at 43% ABV in a classic 0.7-litre bottle.

The Yamazaki Distillery is part of the Japanese spirits company Suntory and is renowned for its meticulous cask selection and the skilful blending of different whisky components. The Yamazaki Distiller’s Reserve embodies this philosophy by combining traditional Japanese distilling craftsmanship with innovative maturation methods. Whilst the wine casks impart additional fruity notes, the sherry casks and Japanese Mizunara oak contribute to the whisky’s complexity. The distillery’s unique geographical location between Kyoto and Osaka also offers ideal climatic conditions for whisky production. As a Japanese single malt whisky with no age statement, the Suntory Yamazaki Distiller’s Reserve is an interesting choice for lovers of Japanese whiskies and exceptional cask blends.
