Clément Rhum Agricole Select Barrel 40% vol. comes from Martinique and is produced in the characteristic ‘Agricole’ style using fresh sugar cane juice rather than molasses. Rhum Clément looks back on a long history that is closely linked to the Habitation Clément and the development of Rhum Agricole in Martinique. Production takes place in accordance with the strict guidelines of the AOC Martinique, whereby the freshly extracted sugar cane juice is fermented and then continuously distilled. For the Clément Select Barrel, various Agricole rums are blended together, selected by cellar master Julien Thimon specifically according to cask character and degree of toasting. The bottling thus combines traditional sugarcane processing with a carefully controlled selection of casks.

The Clément Select Barrel Rhum Agricole derives its distinctive character from ageing for at least 21 months in new American oak casks. The key factor here is not only the duration of ageing, but also the selection of casks based on their individual toasting and respective structure. This results in a matured Rhum Agricole ambré that combines the fresh sugarcane base with the influence of new American oak. At 40% ABV and in a 0.7-litre bottle, this bottling offers an accessible introduction to Clément’s matured Agricole rums, whilst also demonstrating the importance of cask selection and the cellar master’s craftsmanship within the house.
