The Arran Single Malt American Oak BARREL RESERVE 43% is a fresh and approachable single malt Scotch whisky from the Isle of Arran, which showcases the Lochranza Distillery’s characteristic fruity style particularly well. For this bottling, the whisky is matured exclusively in selected American oak bourbon casks, resulting in light fruit aromas combined with vanilla and gentle woody notes. It is produced using traditional methods involving pot-still distillation, whilst the cask selection is specifically aimed at preserving the natural character of the distillate. The Barrel Reserve is bottled without an age statement and boasts a natural colour derived solely from cask maturation.

With an alcohol content of 43 per cent, the Arran Barrel Reserve is well-balanced, approachable yet full of character. Typical notes include fresh citrus fruits, green apple and a pleasant vanilla sweetness, complemented by subtle hints of spice and oak, as well as a subtle maritime island character. Maturation exclusively in bourbon casks allows the fruity character of the Arran single malt to really come to the fore. Unlike many of the more robust Arran bottlings, the Barrel Reserve is chill-filtered at 43 per cent, ensuring it remains clear even at lower temperatures. The 0.7-litre bottle is therefore particularly well suited as an accessible introduction to the Arran Single Malts range.
