Description
The Ondjaba The Namibian Whisky Single Malt x Sherry Style Finish is an exceptional single malt whisky from Namibia, produced exclusively from malted barley. This sets this bottling apart from the triple-grain whiskies in the Ondjaba range. It is produced at the Erongo Mountain Winery in Namibia, where the climatic conditions allow for a profound influence on the cask maturation. After distillation, the single malt is initially matured in the producer’s own ex-red wine casks. The combination of viticulture and whisky production under one roof allows for particularly direct access to the wine casks used.
Following maturation in ex-red wine casks, the Ondjaba Single Malt undergoes a final finish in so-called ‘ex-sherry-style’ casks. This designation should be deliberately distinguished from classic ex-sherry casks and corresponds to the producer’s specification. With a robust 51% ABV in the 0.7-litre bottle, this Namibian single malt is a characterful expression with distinct cask influence. The combination of 100 per cent malted barley, red wine cask maturation and a sherry-style cask finish gives this whisky a unique position within the Ondjaba range. For lovers of international whiskies, it therefore offers an interesting alternative to classic single malts from Scotland, Ireland or other established whisky-producing regions.
