The name "Cinabrio" is derived from the mineral vermilion colour (cinnabar), which was a symbol of passion, energy and rebirth in Mayan culture - and thus stands for the powerful soul of this rum.

Made from locally grown sugar cane and distilled in column stills, Cihuatán Cinabrio 12 Años matures for at least twelve years in ex-bourbon barrels made from American white oak. This long tropical maturation gives it its smooth texture, aromatic depth and characteristic amber colour. The balance between sweetness, wood and flavour is finely tuned and testifies to the high art of Central American rum production.
