Ron Cueva 1501 Panama 30 Sistema Solera Rum is a fine premium rum from Panama that stands out for its rich heritage, meticulous ageing and cultural significance. With an alcohol content of 40 per cent by volume and bottled in a stylish 0.7-litre bottle with a gift box, this rum represents a unique blend of history, craftsmanship and social commitment.
Named after the Cueva tribe, one of Panama’s earliest indigenous peoples, this rum commemorates the first encounters with the Spanish in 1501. The tribe was wiped out by 1535 – as a result of conflict and disease. Today, Ron Cueva stands as a tribute to the lost heritage of the Cueva and actively supports indigenous communities in Panama through social projects.
The rum itself is a masterfully composed blend of selected rums, matured using the traditional Solera method – with some components having been aged for up to 30 years. Ageing in carefully selected oak casks gives the rum its intense teak-coloured hue and its complex aromatic profile.
