The origins of the company date back to 1875, when Alfredo Francisco Pellas Canessa, an Italian from Genoa, travelled to Nicaragua and found the ideal location for his distillery at the foot of the San Cristóbal volcano.

Flor de Caña is authorised to use the designation "SLOW AGED" with the approval of the strict US government authorities. This designation describes the natural, non-accelerated maturation process of the rum in oak barrels and is a sign of the highest quality.
