The Glenmorangie distillery, founded in 1843 in the Scottish Highlands near Tain, is famous for its exquisite single malt Scotch whiskies. These are distilled in the highest stills in Scotland, resulting in a particularly fine and mild distillate. Glenmorangie is known for its innovative cask finishing technique, which matures whiskies in different types of casks such as port, sherry and wine casks, giving them a unique depth of flavour.

Glenmorangie 12 Years Old Palo Cortado Barrel Select Release marks a first for the Glenmorangie brand as it is the first whisky to be matured in the exceptionally rare Palo Cortado sherry casks. This exquisite Highland whisky spends a total of 12 years in casks, eight of which are in American white oak bourbon casks and the remaining time in Palo Cortado casks. Dr Bill Lumsden, inspired by the soft and smooth character of the whisky, chose a special batch of the single malt for finishing in Palo Cortado casks. Palo Cortado, the rarest of all sherry varieties, is created by a random process in which no protective flor yeast forms.
