The Tomatin 15 Years Old Portuguese Collection Moscatel Casks 2006 is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky and forms part of the exceptional Tomatin Portuguese Collection. For this series, the whiskies were distilled on 8 September 2006 and initially matured for more than eight years in traditional Scotch whisky oak casks. On 23 April 2015, the whisky was transferred to various types of Portuguese casks, with this edition maturing for a further seven years in Moscatel de Setúbal casks. This exceptionally long secondary maturation lends the single malt a distinctive character whilst also demonstrating the influence of Portuguese sweet wine casks on the classic style of the Tomatin Distillery.


After a total of 15 years’ maturation, the Tomatin Portuguese Collection Moscatel Casks was bottled on 9 May 2022 at 46% in a 0.7-litre bottle, complete with a gift box. Together with the editions from Tawny Port casks and Madeira wine casks, it forms a three-part collection in which distillates that started out identically develop individual profiles through different cask maturations. In particular, the seven-year maturation in Moscatel de Setúbal casks is far more than just a brief finish and is one of the key distinguishing features of this edition. The combination of the 2006 vintage, 15 years’ maturation and Portuguese Moscatel casks makes this bottling appealing both to lovers of fruit-forward Highland single malts and to collectors of the complete Portuguese Collection.
