In the late 1990s, a group of friends had the ambitious plan to establish the first whisky distillery in Wales for over a century. Their aim was to create a whisky as pure and precious as Welsh gold. In 2004, on St David's Day, this dream became a reality when Penderyn Whisky saw the light of day. The distillery owes its uniqueness in part to the copper still with a special still designed by Dr David Faraday. It is located in the village of Penderyn, at the southern end of the Brecon Beacons. The pure spring water from the region contributes significantly to the quality of the exceptional Penderyn whiskies.

Penderyn The Headliner Welsh Whisky is the 9th bottling in the renowned "Icons of Wales" whisky collection and honours the important social reformer of the 20th century, David LLoyds George. This limited edition impresses with its fascinating maturation, which takes place in both Jamaican rum casks and ruby port casks. This unique combination gives the single malt a seductive blend of tropical fruit flavours, sweetness and a subtle spiciness.
