Ojo de Tigre Mezcal Artesanal Reposado is a 100 per cent agave mezcal from Mexico, which combines traditional artisanal production methods with subsequent barrel ageing. The Espadín and Tobalá agave varieties from Oaxaca and Puebla are used for this Reposado expression. The agave hearts are traditionally roasted in a stone-lined earthen pit before further processing and, finally, distillation in copper stills. As a Mezcal Artesanal, Ojo de Tigre thus embodies a production process in which traditional methods play a central role. The Reposado variant was specifically developed for connoisseurs who wish to combine the original agave character of a mezcal with the additional influences of cask ageing.


Through its Reposado maturation in wooden casks, Ojo de Tigre develops more intense vanilla and caramel notes without overshadowing the characteristic style of the mezcal. Cooked agave, subtle smokiness and botanical notes are preserved and complemented by wood and ageing aromas. At 37 per cent ABV in a 0.7-litre bottle, Ojo de Tigre Reposado Mezcal presents itself as an accessible interpretation of a barrel-aged agave distillate. The combination of Espadín and Tobalá agave, sourced from Oaxaca and Puebla, traditional earth-pit roasting, copper distillation and Reposado barrel ageing forms the key distinguishing feature of this Mexican speciality.
