The Plantation Rum Panama Single Cask White Pineau des Charentes Finish 2008 is a special single-cask bottling from Panama, the distillate for which comes from Alcoholes del Istmo. The raw material used is molasses, which was fermented for two to three days and then distilled in a column still in 2008. This was followed by an elaborate, multi-stage maturation process: first, the rum spent twelve years maturing in bourbon casks under tropical conditions. This was followed by a further year of continental maturation in Ferrand casks in France. To add the final touch, the rum was given a seven-month finish in casks previously used for white Pineau des Charentes, which complements the long-aged base with additional floral, fruity and wine-like notes.

The technical data also underline the distinctive character of this Plantation Panama 2008 Single Cask bottling. The rum has 200 g/hl AA volatile components and 85 g/hl AA esters, and has a dosage of 5 g/l. No caramel colouring (E150a) has been used at all. The combination of twelve years’ maturation in tropical Bourbon casks, one year in Ferrand casks and the final White Pineau des Charentes cask finish exemplifies Plantation’s characteristic blend of different maturation regions and cask types. Bottled at 46.5% ABV and presented in a gift box, this 0.7-litre rum is aimed particularly at connoisseurs of exceptional wine-cask finishes and limited-edition Panama Rums.
