The Hampden Estate 8 Years Old Pure Single Jamaican Rum 46% ABV 0.7 l is a characterful premium Jamaican rum that reflects the Caribbean’s time-honoured art of distilling. It is produced at the legendary Hampden Estate Distillery in Trelawny, Jamaica, whose history dates back to 1753. The distillery is particularly renowned for its traditional, partly secret production methods and its characteristic high-ester rums. As a Pure Single Jamaican Rum, this bottling is produced entirely from sugar cane molasses at a single distillery and distilled using the traditional pot still method. The rum is then matured for eight years in oak casks under tropical conditions in Jamaica, where the warm climate allows for a particularly intense interaction between the distillate and the wood. Bottled at 46% ABV in a 0.7-litre bottle, it embodies the unmistakable style of the Hampden Estate Distillery.

The Hampden Estate 8 Years Old is regarded as the flagship of the regular range and combines centuries-old rum-making tradition with exceptional aromatic complexity. The distillery relies on traditional fermentation methods and copper pot stills, which contribute significantly to the characteristic formation of esters. The eight-year tropical cask maturation is often compared, in terms of its intensity, to a significantly longer period of ageing under European climatic conditions. The producer draws a comparison with almost 25 years of continental maturation. As a versatile 8-year-old Jamaican rum, this bottling is suitable both for enjoying neat and for sophisticated cocktail creations. The combination of traditional pot-still distillation, tropical maturation and authentic Jamaican rum character makes it an interesting choice for rum lovers and connoisseurs.
