Tanqueray London Dry Gin is the result of the dedication and innovation of Charles Tanqueray, who spent many years developing the perfect formula for him. His efforts paid off, as Tanqueray gin has been produced using a traditional process based on four distillation passes since 1830.

Tanqueray began its export business in 1847, initially supplying the British colonies, particularly Jamaica. After the death of Charles Tanqueray in 1868, his son, Charles Waugh Tanqueray, took over the management of the company. Over the following decades, Tanqueray gin developed into a popular brand, particularly in the United States, where it became known as the main ingredient in the classic Dry Martini.

During the German air raids in 1941, the distillery was almost completely destroyed. A single still survived the raids unscathed and is still in operation today. Today, the main production takes place at the Cameronbridge distillery in Scotland.

Tanqueray relies on a careful selection of classic botanicals such as juniper and citrus fruits, which are complemented by grapefruit and rosemary. This combination gives the gin its unmistakable flavour. The botanicals used include: Juniper, coriander, angelica root, liquorice root, lime, orange, chamomile, rosemary and grapefruit.
