The Flaming Pig Whiskey, whose name literally means "flaming pig", is not quite as "nice" as the Pig's Nose Whisky. No pigs are harmed during production. However, the name is reminiscent of the great whiskey fire of 1875, in which around 5,000 barrels burst into flames and flooded down the streets of Dublin. It is said that the screams of a pig woke up the sleeping inhabitants, who then fled themselves and their animals to safety.

The Flaming Pig brand was launched in 2014 by Joey Shore and Flor Prendergast, the owners of the Malones Whiskey Company. Naturally, they chose the legendary Liberties District as the location where the fire once raged.

The Flaming Pig Black Cask Whiskey is created by blending Irish single malt and single grain whiskey. It is finished in first-fill bourbon barrels that have been intensively burnt out beforehand. The charred wood gives the whiskey the desired smoky and caramelised notes that make it so special.
