As the name suggests, what makes this Macallan whisky so special is the way it is matured. The fresh distillate is matured in European sherry casks, American sherry casks and American bourbon casks. As a result, the wood of the European red oak and American white oak interacts with the fresh distillate in the same way as the spirits – sherry and bourbon – previously stored in these casks.
