Description
The Bunnahabhain Distillery, situated on the picturesque coast of the Isle of Islay, was founded in 1881 and is renowned for its unique, unpeated whiskies. The distillery originally relied on maritime trade and experienced a turning point in 1960 with the construction of a new road, which improved logistics. Following a brief closure in the 1930s and the last ship’s arrival in 1993, the road became the main supply route. In 2006, following its acquisition by Burn Stewart Distillers, the brand’s image underwent a modern revamp. The water used for the whiskies comes from calcareous springs and is channelled to the distillery without coming into contact with peat, which gives the whiskies their mild, characteristic flavour.
Bunnahabhain TOITEACH A DHÀ is the successful successor to the popular Bunnahabhain Toiteach. With a name that translates into English as ‘smoky two’, this whisky heralds an exciting new chapter. Compared to its predecessor, the proportion of sherry cask maturation has been increased, lending additional richness to the elegant character of this Islay whisky. The TOITEACH A DHÀ is bottled without chill filtration and without the addition of colouring agents, to preserve the whisky’s purity and authenticity.
