In 1776, characterised by the spirit of the American Revolution and the birth of the Declaration of Independence, the foundations were laid for the Pepper family's now legendary whiskey brand. Elijah Pepper laid the foundation stone, followed by Oscar Pepper and later Colonel James E. Pepper, who led the brand into the 20th century. As a bourbon aristocrat and industrial pioneer from Kentucky, Colonel James named the whiskey "Old 1776" to honour the legacy of the Revolution.

The James E. Pepper 1776 Straight Bourbon Whiskey, characterised by its high rye content of over 38%, is bottled at 46% and without chill filtration or colouring. These characteristics give it a full-bodied and spicy flavour that makes it an excellent choice for whiskey lovers.
