The Nikka Coffey Grain Whisky 90th Anniversary presents the well-known Japanese single grain whisky in special gift packaging to mark the 90th anniversary of Nikka Whisky. The company was founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru and celebrated its 90th anniversary in 2024. The Coffey Grain is made predominantly from maize and distilled in traditional Coffey stills. Nikka imported the first of these historic continuous stills from Scotland to Japan in 1963, with a second following in 1966. Today, they are used at the Miyagikyo Distillery. Although these stills are less efficient than modern column stills, Nikka values them particularly for their ability to preserve the character of the raw materials and produce a distinctly smooth, creamy distillate.

Nikka Coffey Grain was originally launched in 2012 and is now one of the Japanese producer’s signature grain whiskies. After distillation, the whisky is matured in various older American oak casks, including refilled, re-assembled and re-charred casks. It is bottled at 45% ABV. According to Nikka, the whisky meets all the criteria for the designation ‘Japanese Whisky’ in accordance with the standards of the Japan Spirits & Liqueurs Makers Association. The 90th Anniversary Edition stands out primarily due to its limited-edition anniversary gift packaging, making it an attractive option for Nikka Whisky collectors and lovers of Japanese whiskies.
