The Lagavulin 16 Years Old Single Malt Whisky 43% is one of the most iconic whiskies from the Isle of Islay and is regarded as one of the most significant classics in the world of Scottish single malts. The malt used in production is kilned over a peat fire to achieve a high level of smoke, which gives the whisky its characteristic aromatic intensity right from the early stages. Distillation takes place particularly gently in the distillery’s pear-shaped stills, ensuring that as many flavour compounds as possible reach the condensers and giving the whisky its exceptional depth. The Lagavulin is then matured for 16 years in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks, which contributes significantly to its distinctive style characterised by powerful peaty smoke, subtle sweetness and maritime notes.

The distillery’s proximity to the coast further influences the maturation process, imparting to the whisky those characteristic notes of iodine, seaweed and salt for which Lagavulin is widely renowned. Its long-lasting structure, the combination of intense smokiness and subtle woody nuances, as well as its traditional artisanal production, make this Islay single malt a benchmark within its category. The Lagavulin 16 Years Old is presented in a high-quality gift box that stylishly emphasises its classic character.
