Amaro Lucano is a traditional Italian herbal liqueur whose history dates back to 1894. The recipe, which remains a closely guarded secret to this day, was developed by Cavaliere Pasquale Vena in the southern Italian region of Basilicata. What began as an artisanal speciality has, over generations, developed into one of Italy’s best-known amari. The basis of its distinctive profile is a carefully balanced blend of more than 30 herbs, the exact composition and proportions of which are kept as a family secret. The recipe is passed down from generation to generation within the Vena family and remains at the heart of Amaro Lucano Originale to this day. With an alcohol content of 28 per cent, this herbal liqueur combines aromatic intensity with the typical bittersweet balance of a classic Italian amaro.

The production of Amaro Lucano from Italy is based on the deliberate interplay of numerous botanical ingredients, which lend the liqueur its complex herbal character. Its origins are closely linked to the Lucano 1894 company and the Vena family, meaning that tradition and the recipe have been intertwined for more than a century. The combination of over 30 herbs, a secret family recipe and the Italian Amaro tradition makes the 0.7-litre bottle an attractive choice both as a classic digestif and as a versatile bar ingredient. Amaro Lucano can be served neat, chilled or on the rocks, and is equally suitable as an aromatic base for cocktails and long drinks.
