The Douglas Laing Big Peat 10 Years Old Red Wine Cask The Winter Edition 2026 is a limited-edition Islay blended malt Scotch whisky that combines the characteristically peaty style of the Big Peat range with the influence of red wine casks. For Big Peat, the independent Scottish bottler Douglas Laing blends exclusively single malts from the island of Islay. The Winter Edition bears a full age statement of 10 years and, thanks to the selected red wine casks, gains an additional fruity dimension that contrasts with the blend’s maritime peaty smoke. This special edition is bottled at a robust 48 per cent ABV and comes in a 0.7-litre bottle with a matching gift box.

The Big Peat series forms part of Douglas Laing’s Remarkable Regional Malts and was developed to bring together the typical character of the Scottish whisky region of Islay in a blended malt. Traditionally, the focus is on peaty smoke, maritime influences and a robust Islay character. In the Winter Edition 2026, the maturation – or rather the influence of the red wine casks – expands this profile to include darker fruit and wine notes.
