After distillation, it is aged for 18 months in American white oak casks, which allows the typical agave characteristics to blend with subtle notes of wood, vanilla and caramel. The extended barrel ageing lends the tequila additional depth and ensures a balanced interplay between cooked agave, oak and sweet barrel notes. Don Julio embodies an elegant, clearly structured style of tequila, in which the origin of the agave and the barrel ageing are equally central.

With an alcohol content of 38 per cent, Don Julio Añejo Tequila is full-bodied, complex and harmonious. Fresh citrus notes of lime, grapefruit and mandarin meet caramel, wild honey and a pronounced oak character. On the palate, cooked agave, buttery caramel and the spicy character of American white oak combine to create a well-rounded profile.
