Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength is a powerful Highland single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at cask strength with a striking 60 per cent alcohol by volume. Its designation ‘105’ derives from the traditional British proof scale, as 105 British proof corresponds to 60 per cent alcohol by volume. Glenfarclas is one of the pioneers of this bottling style: as early as 1968, the Glenfarclas 105 was released as one of the first commercially available cask-strength single malts. Today, the bottling carries no age statement and is primarily synonymous with the distillery’s characteristic, powerful house style. The maturation is closely linked to Glenfarclas’s typical use of sherry casks, which lend the intense distillate additional depth and complexity.

The Glenfarclas Distillery is situated in Ballindalloch in Speyside and has been owned by the Grant family since 1865. This makes it one of Scotland’s most traditional independent and family-run distilleries. The Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength embodies this distillery philosophy in a particularly concentrated form, combining high alcohol content with the classic fruity and spicy Glenfarclas character. The designation ‘Cask Strength’ is an essential part of the identity of this traditional bottling. In the 0.05-litre miniature bottle offered here, the Glenfarclas 105 is ideal for getting to know the whisky, for whisky tastings or as a compact addition to a collection of Scottish single malts.
